Aunque no entiendan

Cuando no entiendan tu visión,
O tu esfuerzo dejen de valorar,
No te dejes desalentar,
El tiempo te dará la razón.

Toma su desdén como lección,
Y ajusta tus expectativas.
Pero no te des por vencida,
Y sigue tu intuición,
De seguir haciendo lo mejor,
Aunque lo hagas a escondidas.

Persevere

Why is it so hard to do,
What we know needs be done?
Why is it so easy to put aside,
That which makes us sweat,
Toil, and fray, and grunt,
Tire, and strain, and pain,
Struggle, and heave, and grind?

Yet as many have said before,
In life, the things that are hard to do,
Are the only ones worthwhile.

Perseverar

Que fácil es dejar de hacer,
Lo que trabajo nos da,
Dejando al lado para olvidar,
Y así no tener que sudar,
Pensar, atender, resolver,
Traer, llevar, empujar,
Arreglar, limpiar, mantener,
Remplazar, escribir, o crear.

Nuevas vicisitudes y retos.

Hoy te esperaran grandes sorpresas,
Sin importar su tamaño,
Pues una buena taza de café,
Le arregla a cualquiera la mañana,
Y ese gran aroma que emana,
A todos pone alerta.

No te mentiré, tus problemas estarán todavía,
Esperando a que salgas de la cama,
para decirte buenos días.

Pero eso es lo grandioso,
De tener un día nuevo,
Ahora tienes tiempo,
Para atajar esos problemas fastidiosos,
Y luego tener un día hermoso,
Para andar con una sonrisa a cuestas.

Embrace a new day

When you rise from bed today,
Take a moment to think over,
How glad you are,
To be awake.

A new day has been given you,
To waddle through and live,
To wrap its arms around your fate,
And teach you a few things.

Great things will come from this day,
Even when some will look small,
For even a cup of coffee can,
Save a morning when well timed.

Yes, I will admit,
That all the problems left behind,
Will still wait for you outside,
To say hello as well.

Yet, that is the beauty of a new day,
Your sorrows still await,
But you now have a fresh new chance,
To vanquish them and smile away.

Lección aprendida

La semana pasada,
Me alertó una campana,
Que mi cel lleno estaba.

Ahora borrar cosas tendría.

Pero yo no podía pues todo veía,
Como crucial y necesario.

Sin embargo, al día siguiente,

My niña excelente,
Resolvió abruptamente el problema.

Tomo el celular,
Y se puso a jugar,
Mas al final, ¿quién lo diría?,

Me miró angustiada,
El celular no funcionaba,
Pues borró toda data que en él existía.

Se me fué el corazón,
Y lloré con razón,
Todo lo que ahora tendría.

Que ir a buscar,
Y volver a instalar,
Para sentirme normal en mi vida.

Pero mientras pasa el tiempo,
Vivo contento,
Pues hice un gran descubrimiento.

No he necesitado,
Ni la mitad de lo borrado,
Que antes parecía preciado.

Y por lo tanto aprendí,
Que es mejor vivir,
Sin tantas cosas acaparando mi espacio.

Lesson learned abruptly

I got the notice,
That my phone was out of storage.

I checked the contents,
And despaired,
For I saw nothing to dispense.

All my data in there was,
Dear to me in some way,
And needed for my everyday.

Then next day,
My daughter in play,
Restored my phone away.

All was gone,
Nothing was left,
And I have lived like that these days.

Thanks to her,
I realized,
That I needed a lot less.

I was just clinging,
To everything,
And just feared to make a change.

So there you go,
Lesson learned,
Got rid of all and lived to tell the tale.

Buen ánimo

Porque no mejor sentirte Súper,
En vez de bien, o ahí-ahí,
Porque no mejor sentirte excelente.

Es tu decisión,
En verdad lo es,
Aunque no lo quieras creer.

Si quisieras sentirte espectacular,
La espectacularidad se apoderaría de ti.
Ten cuidado que quema un poquito.

Brillarías más claro que el sol,
Obligando a todos a tu alrededor,
A sacar, sonrientes, sus gafas.

Good mood

Why not just feel great,
Instead of alright, or fine,
Why not just feel excellent.

It's your choice,
It really is you know,
No matter what you say.

Decide to be in an awesome mood,
And awesomeness will come.
Watch out, it burns a little.

You will glow brighter than the sun,
Forcing all the people around you,
To get out their shades and smile a little more.

Toma vuelo

Se como chiringa de cuando en vez,
Navega el viento con valentía,
Peleando todo el día,
Contra el tirón de tu línea.

Da vueltas de lado a lado,
Incontrolable e impredecible,
Haz hasta lo indecible,
Para que te den mas hilo.

Se como chiringa en la vida,
Deja tus sueños volar,
Y en los cielos dibujar,
Mientras estás en suelo firme.

Take flight

Be like a kite some days,
Stream into the air,
Riding the winds,
Tugging against your tether.

Fret and dive,
Turn left and right,
Threaten to sink,
Unless they release more line.

Be in life like a kite,
Let your dreams sore,
And take new heights,
While remaining grounded.

Lazy days

Everyone,
At some time,
Needs a lazy day to have.

To sit around,
And claim the couch,
Till night comes on at last.

I don't say,
It has to be,
A ritual everyday.

Nor once a week,
Unless there's need,
To rest around all day.

But if you are,
Always go, go, go,
Try it; It will help a lot.

And after it's been done,
Take a shower and be gone,
For the world outside awaits you.

Celébrate

Cuando logres,
Tu meta alcanzar,
Es hora de celebrar.

Alágate,
Consiéntete,
Sácate a pasear.

Cuando tus amados,
Y amigos aliados,
Te quieran acompañar.

Entonces serán,
En adicional,
Una alegría para festejar.

No debes jamás,
A otros esperar,
Para a tí ir a celebrar.

Pues debes tener,
Amor propio pa' ver,
Que ellos también te van a amar.

Celebrate yourself

When you reach,
The goal you set,
Go out and celebrate.

Sing your praises,
Thank your graces,
And bask in your success.

If your friends,
And loved ones share,
That moment then with you.

They are icing,
On your cake,
For they know what you know too.

So celebrate
Yourself away,
Don't wait for others to.

Because you must,
Love yourself first more,
To see how others do love you.

Uncovered - Picture

Uncovered - F. Santiago

El momento

Nos miramos a los ojos,
Y nos acercamos lentamente,
Como si finalmente,
Nuestra gravedad hubiera,
Atraído nuestras órbitas.

Yo sé lo que pasará,
Y sé que tu también,
Pues veo el destello de tus ojos,
Mientras nuestros labios recorren,
El espacio que nos separa.

Y al fin ha llegado,
El momento anhelado,
Cuando se unen nuestros labios,
Y envían corrientes a nuestro corazón,
Que viajan nuestro cuerpo entero,
E iluminan nuestro universo,
Con miles de estrellas de colores,
y levantas las pasiones,
Que allí esperaban dormidas,
Abriéndole cabida,
A este amor de mil amores.

The moment

Our eyes are locked,
Our heads sync,
And are pulled closer as if,
Mighty Gravity is finally,
Attracting our orbits.

You know it's close,
And so do I,
I see a twinkle in your eye,
As our lips,
Slowly breach,
The distance in between.

And here it comes,
The moment when,
Our eyes close in synchronicity,
Our lips touch and slowly part,
Sending tremors down our spine,
And lighting up our universe.

Sentimientos Encerrados

Hay prisiones peores,
Que las de piedra y cemento,
Pues encierran fuerzas adentro,
Que deben fluir en libertad.

Una prisión de sentimientos,
Siempre fallará en su función,
Pues en algún inevitable momento,
Sus custodios escaparán.

Y cuando eso vaya a pasar,
Habrán solo dos alternativas:
Los sentimientos, sigilosos, escaparán
Liberando poco a poco la presión,
O se desatará una explosión,
Que destruirá todo a su paso,
Sin mesura o compasión.

Locked feelings

There are prisons worse,
Than brick and mortar ones,
Because they are invisible,
To most eyes.

They lock in raw power,
That should be flowing free,
Thereby compressing forces,
That continue to build and build.

A prison for feelings,
Will fail at its duty every time,
Since at some moment in time,
All feelings will break free.

And when they do, there are but two,
Likely outcomes to be had,
Either feelings sneaked out with relief,
Or exploded, burning everyone in their path.

Nuevos comienzos

¿Te atreves a comenzar otra vez?
¿Aunque hacerlo ponga en riesgo,
Todo lo que has creado aquí,
Y que puedes destruir?

No será como la primera vez,
De eso puedes estar segura,
Sabia te ha hecho tu experiencia,
Pero tus tropiezos en esta vuelta,
Serán igual de imprevistos,
Y te tomarán, igual, por sorpresa.

Sin embargo, tienes que recomenzar,
No hay otro camino,
Ese es nuestro destino,
Y el ciclo de esta vida,
Que todo proyecto termina,
Para ver otro llegar.

New beginnings

Can you dare to start again?
To brave the strain and work,
And build upon what you'd done,
Even when you could crumble it all?

It will not be the same,
Rest assure of it,
You've grown wise,
From your first time,
Your new mistakes,
Will be again,
As unforseable,
As on that first try.

Yet, you must start again,
There is no other path,
You must move on,
And push along,
And do what must be done.

For there is no rest in life,
When something's done,
Something else comes up,
That needs you to restart.

On music in your head

You can always tell your mood,
By the songs playing in your head,
They are always there even if,
You tune them out all day.

They might be contemplative,
Or fun, loud and jazzy
They might just be dull and hazy,
or slow, melodic and operatic.

However they are played,
They try to comfort in some way,
By reaching out from within,
Connecting heart, and soul, and brain.

So take a moment of your day,
And check out what's playing there,
If you don't like what you hear back,
Just turn the nob and change the track.

On feeling sick

I hate feeling sick,
I was brought up that way,
So feeling bad just makes me real mad,
And also quite gloomy all day.

When I was young,
My mom used to say,
"If you can stand, you must understand,
That you are going to school today."

And my father would,
When sick work away,
And go to the kitchen to micro some chicken,
for we had to eat some food that day.

So I feel as if,
When sick, I can't stay,
thrown on a couch like a lazy ol' slouch,
For there is much to do on this day!

To kind mothers of all kinds.

To all mother's out there, who we must cherish everyday,
I salute them now and here,
For they are our love most dear.

They gave and taught us life,
They bound our scrapes of flesh and heart,
They told us what we mustn't do,
And scold us when we did those too.

And when they, absent, were,
Another sometimes took their place,
Who might not have brought us in their womb,
But who loved us deep and true.

For there are mothers of all kinds,
Some who have never had a child,
Some who reared someone else's young,
Some who took in those alone.

So I salute you all,
The ones who carried us form the start,
The ones who took us after a while,
The ones who substituted in time of need,
The ones who taught us: "do good deeds",
The ones who loved us all along,
The ones who waited for us to come home,
The ones who worried when we were sick,
The ones who made our meals so quick,
The ones who shared our joy and tears,
The ones who washed away our fears.

To all of you,
Mothers of the world.
We love you all.

On showers

What is it about showers,
That clean you outside and in,
that make your pores and mind clear,
While under its cleansing stream?

It's as if it de-webs your thoughts,
That were snared through sleep or work,
And fires up a second wind,
To limbs that were shot from wear.

Do showers declog debris,
That blocked the flow of activity,
Of consciousness and creativity,
That might have existed in your hair?

Or do they activate a vestigial response,
Left by an ancient flood,
That wiped this earth clean,
Some ages ago?

Or could they just trigger a salute,
To the element from which,
We rose to explore the land,
Some eons ago?

I dare say I don't know,
The answers to all this things,
But I'll see the questions clearer,
when I'm in my shower's stream.

There are so many things to be thankful for.

There are so many things,
To be thankful for,
For another day,
For time to play,
For a little smile on your face.

It does not matter who you thank,
Or what,
It just matters to realize,
That you are fortunate to have had,
very special moments here,
And cherish that.

How many people don't you see,
That go through life as if,
Nothing's good or right,
And just mumble how'd they wish,
It would all just change,
So they can smile.

Yet while they sit morose,
A million flower buds blossom,
A child stares at clouds and laughs,
And birds chirp up in trees,
But they do not look or see,
The wonders that round them are,
Or that while they mellow in the dark,
A loved one holds their hand.

There are so many things,
To be thankful for,
A silent kiss,
A sudden hug,
A look that says: "it's you I love."
A slight caress,
A wink,
A song,
A note that says: "I luv you lots."
There are so many things,
To be thankful for.
And I am.

Of all.

Thank you.

Smile, laugh, breathe and live

Grab a smile for breakfast today,
It goes great with cheese and bread,
And has that lingering effect,
That keeps you up all day.

When getting ready for your week,
Stretch out that wrinkled brow,
Release that terse frown,
Unclench that firm jaw,
And have a laugh or two at least,
For there is a huge possibility,
That this week will be great.

Now let your heart relax,
When you figure out your month,
Breathe in a lungfull of air,
Keep it a few seconds there,
Then exhale it slow and soft,
And feel your worries leave as well,
For this month will be the best.

So when you look ahead at your year,
Why would you worry at all?
Look at your days, and weeks, and months,
They have all been grand.
So why would your year be bland,
Or even buck that trend?
It is more likely instead,
That your year will be a blast.

And now consider the rest of your life...

Cleaning my drive

At times, I feel under resourced,
As if life had overclocked my senses,
I feel dazed, slow and heavy,
Unable to process data or sentences.

I need to reboot and refresh,
To clear the cache weighing me down,
To purge what's temporary stuff,
And free space for a brand new day.

It is so easy to be a hoard,
Of mindless info and sad thoughts,
That enter in a legit looking Trojan horse,
And seized my mind's drive.

A clean wipe and reinstall,
Is not an option here at all,
There are thoughts in me not backed up,
My custom settings can't be lost.

So, I execute the best app ever,
A picture of my queen and princess,
A video of our trips together,
That scours all the grime in my mind,
And leaves me feeling new,
Feeling well and light,
Ready to fight the fight,
And above all,
Enjoy my day,
With a smile.

On being mad at yourself

Remember this at all times,
When you are mad at yourself,
Whatever put you in that state,
Is already in the past.

So let it go and let it rest,
There is no good in dwelling there,
Learn from it and walk it off,
You gain nothing by your sulk.

Forgive yourself, pat your back,
Commiserate for a while,
But rise above the gloomy clouds,
And saddle up and ride it out.

Because when you are mad at yourself,
It doesn't translate that well,
And all your loved ones truly see,
Is that you are mad at them, indeed.

Remember this all the time.
I keep repeating to myself.
You'll think it isn't hard,
But trust me it takes a lot of work.

On why we write

Why do we write?
Have you ever wondered this?
Why are we compelled to put on paper,
Our thoughts, our memories, our dreams.

Is it because to see them inked,
Or drawn, or digitized,
Makes our brainstorms rage,
More solid and composed,
Than mere musings in our head,
No one can see?

Or is it just that writing shares,
And spreads our views away,
As far as our network's networks go,
Planting a bit of us
In our collective mindframe?

Is that why we write?
To hold on to our thoughts enough,
For them to nurture us,
But then release them out where,
Others might inhale,
Words that where once just dust,
Formless in our brains.

Focus and Frames

There are a thousand ways,
To see what we are seeing,
The way we focus on an image,
Says a lot about ourselves.

The way we experience life,
Is filtered through our mind's lense,
We blur some parts, and crop away,
The things we want to hide.

We focus extra sharply,
And frame only those few scenes,
That we believe to have been,
Elemental to who we are.

Yet, at times, we only focus on,
Our weakness and insecurities,
our pain, our faults, our passing woes,
and print a picture that's quite bleak.

So it's always good to have,
A second look at all your frames,
To make sure you have not cropped away,
All the good and great that's really there.

For we must not forget dear friend,
That the way we focus is, after all,
A counsious or unconscious act,
Over which we'll always have editorial control.

On goals

A goal is but a line we draw,
At that place we want to be,
Just far away to be in sight,
Yet hard to get to without some might.

Just like I have said right above,
You must want to meet your goal,
Because, if you do not care enough,
You'll bail out when it gets though.

Your goal should make you smile inside,
It should make you long for it,
So that all the time appart,
Makes you work hard to close that gap.

People sometimes set their goal,
To mark where others want to be,
Those are empty goals at best,
Once they get there they're bereft.

Your goals should be yours at heart,
Even when you share them all,
They must have meaning you can find,
And fill your soul and seize your mind.

So, go out into the world today,
And draw those goal lines far and wide.
By setting them you'd have begun,
To start the path to get them done.

On chess

There is something fascinating about chess,
It forces the mind to strategize,
To think about the future,
To act,
And to ponder consequences.

Chess could make us better human beings,
It would teach us patience,
Dealing with loss,
And thinking our next move through.

However, there is something sinister about chess,
It's goal is to decimate a battle field,
To siege a king,
To take his queen,
And any soldier that stands in the way.

Chess is about cunning and sacrifice,
Just like life sometimes is,
However, the peril of living three moves ahead,
Is forgetting to enjoy the present that is here.

On quieting your mind

There are times your mind is full,
Of noisy chatter and looping songs,
It makes it tough for quiet thought,
Or to rest after a long, hard haul.

When I'm like this,
I look straight on,
At nothing particular at all,
And picture a bright, white, quiet wall.

When the white has cleared my mind,
I choose one vivid frame,
A sprawling field,
A bold sunset,
Or a snapshot of my family day.

With that image on, I ruminate,
for the thoughts I want to fill my mind,
I choose my soundtrack if need be,
to complement the quiet seeked.

Now I'm readier for the day,
That will try and pull me far away,
From my peaceful quiet scene,
Where I lay, in thought, content.

Therefore, I'll tonight just start,
This calming ritual over again.

If I had some pixie dust

Wouldn't you wish at times,
You had a wand of pixie dust,

To spray on an average day,
And watch cars float away,
And dolphins fly the skies above.

Then you could ride a pirate ship,
All the way to the moon,
And travel back with a bag of stars,
Just before lunch at noon.

Or you could swing as high as you can,
And touch the clouds with your toes,
Then return down to the ground,
And dip them in a waterfall.

Oh, what I wouldn't give,
For a wand of pixie dust to have,
To make dreamy dreams, dreams be,
Until I make them true at last!

On being alive

According to Biology,
There are some requirement for life,
To grow, to move, to adapt,
To respond, to reproduce,
And to regain balance after a while.

That being the case,
I'm sad to say,
That there are people you could state,
Are not alive.

They are unhappily stuck,
Right where they've been,
But do not move, or find balance,
or adapt within.

They are impervious to stimuli,
And would find it hard,
To grow or bring new life,
since they close themselves to everyone.

Yet maybe I just have it wrong,
And confuse living with having life,
Since it is obvious we are all alive.

But I fear some would someday paraphrase,
Thoreau or Dead Poets Society,
And say: "I have life, so I will surely die,
But I am not so sure that I have lived."
So, I try each day for that terrible phrase
not to be mine.

You gotta read the signs

When you try something out,
And it just doesn't pan,
No matter how hard you try,
And worse yet, you feel inside,
That you should not do it like that,
I'll tell you what, you gotta read the signs.

When you give it your all,
And hold nothing back,
When the ones that know say stop,
And the ones that love say no more,
Pause a while and understand,
You gotta read the signs.

Yet when everyone says nay,
But in your heart you see a yes,
When your gut says why not,
Even when the wiseman say no,
When your brain says here we go,
And your mind says I second that,
Don't let anything hold you back,
And give it all you've got,
Because you've just read the signs.

Technological dependency

Don't you love tech that works,
that helps you do what you intend,
and maybe even, on the side,
helps you read a book or play a game.

Oh what tech has done for us!
It connects us all the time,
to distant people on the other side,
of this shrinking world.

And if tech is nice and cool,
it makes its use even more great,
you feel you live right at the edge,
of creation and great discoveries.

However, when tech fails, it fails strong,
and leaves us feeling forlorn,
like digital orphans alone,
in an immense, quiet, analog world.

The great jump

Life is a risky proposition,
After it makes you feel at home,
Comfortable,
It springs the void of risk,
With opportunity peaking on the far side.

So what do you do?
Do you stay where you are,
Seemingly safe,
And just imagine what could have been?

Or do you brace yourself,
Walk to the edge...
Take a deep breadth...
And jump.

Rearing dreams

Never give up on your dreams,
No matter how far fetched they seem,
If they were possible for you to conceive,
They are more likely than not to really be.
At first treat dreams as fine glass in life,
Handle them with care,
But don't leave them in the cupboard where,
They'll dull, and dust and waste away.
Then take your dreams out for a walk,
Let them get some sun and air,
That will help them grow quite strong,
And it'll give them needed work and wear.
After that the choice is clear,
You must let your dreams roam free,
And battle through that harrowing phase,
Where they'll emerge a reality.
For dreams are like a metal sword,
Until forged by fire they are too brittle,
Until hammered lean they have no form,
But after pain and toil they shine bright and strong.
Your dreams are now ready to battle those,
Who would want nothing more,
than to dash the dreams,
Of us all.

Battle on.

On daydreaming

Take a moment everyday,
To whisk yourself away,
To another land, another place,
Or that spot really like,
And take a stroll or a hike,
As if you're really there,
Feel the breeze, breather the air,
Have the sun warm your face.
So when you return,
All your concerns,
Would have quelled to some extent,
And you can carry on,
And move along,
And not feel burned or spent.

On waiting in line.

I know I shouldn't
But I mind,
Whenever I have to stand in line.

Is as if
My life's passing me by,
While I idly stand.

I try at best,
Not to look,
At the other moving lane.

For I know,
It's just a trap,
And it'll stop if I join it last.

I know they try,
The best they can,
Not to have us wait that while.

But here we are,
In fellowship stuck,
But in a very neat and tidy line.

On looking at mountains

Behold the grandure of the mountain,
The quiet beauty of it,
Looking over the valleys,
As a millennial sentry.
See it exhale fog
As it wakes at sunrise,
And at night when it readies rest.
Feel how it weighs down,
And anchors the landscape,
With its umpertubable solidity.
With its weathered face,
It deters the winds,
And disrupts the mightiest of storms.
Oh, silent mountain,
How hard it is to look at you,
And know that my gaze upon you,
Will be as fleeting as the twinkle of a star,
In your existence.
Yet how hard it is to look away,
From your ecstatic static beauty.

On finding yourself smiling

Have you found yourself,
Smiling for no apparent reason?
It feels great, does it not?
Even when you can't explain,
What made you smile in the first place.
I like it better to find a smile on me,
Than a frown.
Frowns make me look weary and old.
Even when there is nothing wrong.
I must make a note to smile more and more,
It feels better on my skin and creases less,
Besides I just get a kick,
Out of everyone's mistified face.
"What's he so happy about?"
If they only knew,
That I have no idea!
Or do I?

On loved ones missed

Being apart is really rough,
Even when it's for the best,
We sometimes long to grab the car,
And meet you for a matinee.

Everyday we think of you,
Even when we miss a call,
And the chance we get to talk,
Turns up the brightness of our day.

The best comfort we can have,
Is to see you safe and well,
Even when what we really see,
Is your Facebook page.

Wether it will be us there,
Or you here,
We'll see each other some future day,
Yet there is no fear of feeling weird,
Like when you meet a long gone friend.

Since there is a bond we forged way back,
That made us family forevermore,
And family never changes,
It just get stronger as we grow.

She grows fast

It feels like only yesterday,
I could cradle you in one arm,
Not that I would have dared,
You felt so fragile way back when.

No look at you, so big and strong,
Where has all that time gone,
Thank God your mom and I have had the sense,
Of making every moment with you count.

Because I wouldn't miss this for the world,
Seeing you grow and play, and dance, and sing,
Watching you run and laugh, and ask to hear,
The story of you as a princes, mom queen and dad king.

We love you, never doubt that at all,
You are our treasure, our sun,
You lighten our days even when you missbehave,
Although we rather you would not.

Now come and give us a kiss,
And another of your hugs,
For no matter how old you get,
We will have a need for those.

Look at things with fresh eyes

A theme that I will oft repeat,
Because of how crucial it is,
It's to look at normal things again,
To see what you have missed.
There are so many wondrous sights
Awaiting right beneath our eyes,
That would never have been seen,
If we had not paused a while.
So do your self a favor, friend,
And look around you through your day,
I guarantee you'll be impressed,
Where sometimes beauty lies in wait.

On Sundays

Is it just me?
Or are Sundays' sunsets the very best?
It just seems that when I see,
a sunset that makes my heart skip,
I look at the calendar and say:
"Of course, It's Sunday."

I guess the sun must know,
that Sunday he must show off,
To earn its name.

If I had a day named after me,
I would definetly try to be,
at my very best that day.

Then again who would name a day, Fernandoday,
That would be just silly!

Hmmm, Fernandoday...
It does kinda have a ring to it.

On Easter

Easter is such a treat,
When children get involved,
I love to see their looks of awe,
When seeking eggs along.

Santa leaves gifts to open,
So do the three wise men,
But only the Easter bunny makes,
The kids go out and search.

What better way to rejoice,
In a new spring that has arrived,
What better way to teach our kids,
That seeking is part of life.

There will be time later on,
To explain the meaning of it all,
For now, let's just let them know,
That this Sunday is a special day,
A day we happily celebrate,
For something wonderful has taken place,
That fills us all with hope and faith...
And Easter rabbits and colored eggs.

On being artistic

Many think that to do art,
An artist you should be,
That you must have,
Talent and grace,
Or else you won't succeed.
Yet, that does not mean,
You should not try,
To dabble in the world of art,
To grab a pen and do a sketch,
To take your cam and take some pics,
Or give a brush a whirl.
You never know what you might make,
No matter what others will say,
No matter what others will see,
When they gaze upon your piece.
What matters is that it is yours,
That you created your own art,
And that before you came along,
that page, that frame, that pic was blank!

Fish in the sky!

This post, you will find,
is kinda bizarre,
But that is because,
There's a fish in the sky!

I walked to my car,
looked up at the sky,
And lo and behold,
There's a fish in the sky!

I pulled out my phone,
And readied the cam,
But all I though was,
There's a fish in the sky!

Who would believe?
Photoshop! They would scream.
But I give you my word.
There's a fish in the sky!

All of my pics,
Have been tweaked and retweaked,
But not this one 'cause,
There's a fish in the sky!

And you know what? I don't care,
If you don't think it was there,
'cause I got to see,
There's a fish in the sky!

When down, Look up

When your day has been dreary,
And you feel blue and weary,
Step outside for a while.

Sit on a bench,
look at the sky,
And feast on the Great Artist's art.

See huge clouds traveling,
Or the sun's rays unraveling,
The colors below the cloud cover.

Or at night see the moon,
Alight in full bloom,
The fields of stars hanging over.

But If the sky is all bland,
Or gray, and not grand,
Don't let that bring you down.

For the canvas is clean,
Since the Artist has been,
Getting ready for the next work of art.

Challenges

A challenge is the best of things
If taken the right way
It'll make you try and stretch your reach
To grasp what's far ahead.

It will make you meditate
And give your mind a sweat.
It will keep you late at night
And wake you clear as day.

A challenge is one great thing
When taken in good sport.
It will make learn so more
And grow you far and deep.

On serving dishes

I believe
Everyday more
That life is best served warm,
Warm with Feelings
Warm with love,
Warm with snapshots of us all.

And I believe,
Even more still,
That passion is best served hot,
Hot with action,
Hot with courage,
Hot with dreams that always flourish.

That's why I don't get,
Why some would choose,
To hate and seek revenge,
Since both those dishes,
Are cold and wishes,
That rot the heart they serve.

So, if a cold dish,
Is what you wish,
Why don't you have Ice cream instead?

On bad dreams

There are few things worse,
Than waking in sweat,
With a nightmare still in play.

You feel despair and even dread,
Until you check that all is well,
That all is right, that all is there,
that nothing happened through the night.

Here's a tip I use a lot,
If I need to sleep some more.
I force myself to go back there,
And change the nightmare's evil plot.

I take control,
I change the facts,
I have everything undone.

And even when the dream's too strong,
And it's about to pass again,
I whisper to my self inside,
It's just a dream, you have control,
It's just a dream, everything's fine,
It's just a dream, you can wake up.

On treating yourself

If you're like me,
It would be hard,
To give yourself a gift.

Even when,
You have worked hard,
Paid your bills,
Crossed your tees,
And saved for rainy days.

You find it tough,
To say congrats,
And treat yourself,
To what you like

Let's make a pact,
and from now on,
After we have settled scores,
Let's take a bit,
Of what we earned,
And splurge a little,
On our selves.
