Little big things

A rock
A glass
A bottle cap

A leaf
A charm
A pocket watch

A pen
A pin
A wedding ring

Anything in life can be
A precious Talisman.

"He venido a buscarte aquí,

"Señor León mil gracias te voy a dar
Por, a nuestra hija, haber encontrado.
Y Amanda, cuantas veces hemos hablado,

"No volveré a hacerlo." prometió,

On trip planning

When a trip you get to plan
Remember that the plan just is
A way to keep track of the sights
that everyone will want to see.

But, pray, planner forget not
The true goal of every trip
Which is to carve out time each day
To just relax and take it in.

Movie Night

Movie night!
Oh, what fun!
Hope the flick is not a dud!

If it is,
My wife would say.
"whatever!" and that is how, it'll be renamed.

Many "whatevers" we have watched,
But, from time to time, we would see,
A flick that steals our breath and hearts.
and makes us, in movie night, believe.

A recipe for bliss

Live aloud.
Love a lot.
Give some one each day some hope.

Hugh a friend.
Smile and wink.
Inspire someone; stop and think.

Stare in awe.
Declare your love.
Lay down, and see the stars above.

Hold her hand.
Take a stroll.
Watch the raindrops splash and fall.

Do this often,
And it'd tell,
That you'd lived your live real well

On timing

Why is it so hard to speak,
When the time has surely come,
Than it is to hold our tongue
When quiet we should keep?

Back at a the Gym

Oh gym, you great trickster,
That after a long sojourn
Double the weight of your weights
Unbeknownst to me!
So that Twenty-five feels like fifty
And fifty, I cannot bear.

Please for give my long reprieve,
And set your matters as they were,
I promise not to part from thee,
At least until the weekdays end!

A Parent's perspective

A threat of war,
A market crash,
Are things that scare us half the time.

The fear of crime,
Of theft, or loss,
can keep us up, all night, a lot.

But there is none,
That scare us more,
And make our sweat, and blood, run cold
Than waking up at half past one
To find a fever on our child.

The princess and the lion- rhymes for Amanda

A princess in a castle lived
Amanda was her pretty name
She loved to dance, and sing, and play
And to explore afar and near.

One day she went outside the gates
To see the forest and the lakes
Yet, so much was her great delight,
That coming back, she lost her way.

As night approached, the princess feared
Never to be found in there,
Among the trees, and hills and rocks,
When, a loud rustle she heard near.

She strained her eyes but failed see
What made the sound that ever neared
Yet something big was on its way
For it crunched branches on its wake.

That's when princess Amanda saw
a great, strong, lion, there, appear
She shrank back, but then he spoke,
He said: "my child, you need not fear."

"For I have come to do no harm,
I'll carry you safely away from here,
And place you in your mother's arms.
Come now and climb my back, my dear"

Amanda rode the lion's back
And soon the forest they ran past
When to the castle gates they neared
The lion, gently, slowed at last,

The lion strode right to the hall
And to the queen he, then, drew near.
"I bring the child my dearest queen"
He said aloud for all to hear.

"My lord I thank you, for I feared
Our daughter had gotten herself lost,
Amanda, you must never wander off
To places where we are not near."

The princess slipped down the lion's back
And ran sobbing to her mother's arms
She said softly through her tears
"I promise never, ever, to do that!"

Then to the lion Amanda went
And hugged him through his golden mane
"Thank you" she whispered for him to hear
And held him close in an embrace.

"Listen to me, my child."
The lion spoke mildly at her ear
"Be ever careful, watch your way,
And I'll always try to keep you safe."

When it came the time to part
Through the door the lion left,
But not even a minute passed
When by that door the king appeared.

"Father! Did you see the lion pass?"
Asked Amanda with delight
"A lion?!", exclaimed the king with twinkly eyes ,
"I know nothing about that, my dear."

On shopping- Haiku

Out shopping we were,
Exhausted bags we bring in,
The fridge and closets await them.

On shopping

Oh, clothing store!
You heartless knave
That parts woman from man,
Bride from groom,
And form a fellowship of men,
Who wait in gloom,
Outside the fitting room.

Words to live by

Where there's a will, there is a way
That's what my wife will always say.
No one gives a thing for free,
My dad in sternness would decree.
Never show, with your hands bare,
My mom would preach to us with care.
All these words I try to heed,
And they steer me to good deeds.
Yet, I am partial to this one,
About persevering every day,
It says that I will find a way
Or, that finding none; I'll go make one.

On loving clouds-Haiku

Clouds awe my daughter,
I see their reflection streak,
Across her round eyes.

Einstein and the snooze button

For those of you who can't agree,
That time is relative indeed,
See it drag on sleepless nights
But between snoozes disappear!

On writing this blog

Since I turned thirty-three,
The age of Christ as many say,
I swore a book, myself, to write,
But no theme, to me, felt quite right.

So I decided I would rhyme,
For those who stumble by my way,
And maybe help them see this time,
A dash of light across their day.

So read on dear friend, I beg,
Even when I do not promise pearls,
Some wit I could, by chance, here bare,
To see you off and keep you fair.
